International Women’s Day 2021 – Please meet our Gaming Director, Jacqui
In light of International Women’s Day 2021, we took the opportunity to ask Jacqui, Casumo’s Director of Gaming, a couple of burning questions. In this exclusive interview she’s giving us some amazing insights into her role within Casumo, her favourite games, the women who inspire her and more. Watch the video or read on if you prefer!
Hi Jacqui, thank you for joining us and taking some time out of your busy day to talk to us on Women’s Day! Could you please tell us a little bit about yourself and your leading role as a woman within Casumo?
Jacqui: My name is Jacqui, I’m Gaming Director for 3 of the Causmo brands; Dunder, Kazoom Casino and Casumo. As you can imagine the role is very very diverse, I would say the main focus is on Casino and Live casino growth and the performance of those products, player retention also. Of course I work very closely with the product team to deliver initiatives and projects in line with our casino strategy. Together with my team, we source new suppliers and manage third party relationships with all our gaming suppliers.
Which part of your role do you find most rewarding?
Jacqui: I would say I really like seeing things come to life, so absolutely, working on the product side I find very rewarding – coming up with new initiatives and improvements to the player experience, offering those new initiatives to our players and tracking their performance. What I find rewarding about the industry in general (and also about the role) is that it is very diverse and it’s also quite a young industry so there’s always more room to grow and trust me, you’re learning new things every day! I find that challenging and rewarding at the same time.
What attracts you to gaming? And what do you think we can do as an industry to encourage more women into leadership roles?
Jacqui: I think the industry already does a pretty good job of encouraging Women. It’s very diverse and inclusive as an industry. I’ve been in the industry for over 15 years now and I’ve always found support from male and female leaders alike. I believe the opportunities are there for the taking and with hard work they’re there for all of us – both the women and the men.
Who is your favourite (female) game character and why?
Jacqui: I think I’ll have to go with Freya from Valkyrie, mainly because she’s pretty badass and looks really good (chuckles) and she’s tough so I like her. Also, the characters in Immortal Romance are pretty cool.
Is this your favourite game too?
Jacqui: They’re really really good games but for favourites I think I’ll have to go with Sweet Bonanza from Pragmatic Play and also Rise of Dead from Play n Go. We need more games with female characters in them actually, when I think about it now, there aren’t enough!
On the topic of games, are there any upcoming releases that you’re really excited about?
Jacqui: Yes certainly! We’re actually releasing Pirates Plenty Megaways from Red Tiger very soon, it’s going to have an exclusive period at Casumo (and the Casumo brands), so really excited to launch that and follow the performance. It’s a sequel to the other Pirate Plenty games also released by Red Tiger which were top performers, so yes – looking forward to that one!
If you won a million euro jackpot tomorrow what would you do with the cash?
Jacqui: Spend it! Just spend it on holidays, yachts, gamble a little – play some of it back maybe, treat my kids, my family – you know!
What if I told you that you could wake up tomorrow with a superpower of your choice, what would that be?
Jacqui: I’d have the superpower to din out when that jackpot is going to drop (laughs)!
Back to celebrating International Women’s Day, can you name one or two of your female role models or let us in on the females who inspire you?
Jacqui: Historically I would say Margaret Thatcher is definitely an inspiration, Irina Sendler, Coco Channel. Within the industry I’ve been lucky enough to also with some great female leaders and influencers, of course including our very own CEO Shelly here at Casumo group.
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would you tell her?
Jacqui: Probably not to worry so much about what people think of me, maybe not to worry so much in general 🙂
Thank you for taking the time to join us here today, this was fun!
Jacqui: Thank you and Happy Women’s Day to all the ladies out there!
