The highlight of the week takes place on Wednesday with the highly anticipated Galway Plate, followed by Ladies' Day on Thursday.

Abstentee was the Galway Plate's maiden winner back in 1869, and with the very best rushing to race there, it's no surprise that trainer Willie Mullin's etched his name onto the trophy in 2021, when Paul Townend crossed the line in first place on Royal Rendevouz. No stranger to a win at the Galway Festival, Willie Mullin's obtained another win back in 2011 with Paul Townend again, this time on Blazing Tempo. The likes of Gordon Elliot, Henry de Bromhead and Joseph O'Brien have also found success here, proving that anything can happen on this racecourse with competing jockeys on top of their game.
Galway is 2 miles 6 and a half furlongs and is run on turf. It is a steeple chase which is always enteraining racing. Four year old horses and upwards can qualify and compete.

Casumo provides best odds guaranteed on all UK and Irish racing, and as most of these races are shown live in TV you can bet on the races and watch them too. We also offer weekly betting guides on all televised events which gives you an indication of our best tips and trends to help you back your horse.
Betting on the outright winner of the race is always a popular choice. As this is an outright bet, only the backed winner will give you your winnings. If your horse does not finish first, the best is lost.
A double bet is when you back two winners in different races. Both horses need to win their respective race for your stake to be a winning bet.
This is similar to a double, but you have now selected three winners from three different races. All your horses need to win their respective races to ensure your bet is a winning one.
Each Way betting is a popular choice for new bettors. When you back one specific horse in this market, it can finish in the top three and your bet is still valid. This works as half of your bet is placed on your chosen horrse, while the other half is placed on the placing of that horse.
This bet costs double the price of a usual bet, but you do have a better chance of scoring a return, especially when the horse you have backed is not a favourite to win.
An acca or combination bet puts four of more choices into one betslip. Here, you have backed multiple winners and all of your selections must have come through for your bet to be a winner.
A forecase is a prediction of the order the horses will finish in a race. Here, you select and back the first and second placers. In a Reverse Forecase, you pick the ones that you think will finish first or second, without backing their particular order - ie the horse you picked to finish second can finish first and you would still win.
Placepot betting is gaining popularity. All that needs to be done here is to pick a horse from each of the first six races on a single day. If the horse you backed is placed in each race, you will win a share of the prize pool. If, however, one of the horses does not place, the bet is lost.
A jackpot, as the name implies, is the hardest bet to win. Here, you have backed six horses to win their particular races, and they must win their respective races for your bet to be a winning bet.
