How to play Slingo at Casumo

We decided to write up a Slingo guide explaining everything there is to know about this perfect marriage between popular online slots and Bingo. Because just as with video slots or other casino games, it’s nice to know what a game is all about before you give it a try! Then, when you feel ready to play, all you need to do is log in to your Casumo account (or sign-up for one here), navigate to our Game Browser, type ‘Slingo’ in the search bar and select your favourite Slingo game!

But first things first! What is Slingo?

Slingo is a great addition to Casumo’s amazing games selection! Originally, it was an online single and multi-player game that combined elements of slots and bingo (the name Slingo is a portmanteau of the two games). It wascreated by a New Jersey businessman and launched on the AOL platform in 1996.

Many years later, in July 2013, RealNetworks acquired Slingo for a whopping $15.6 million,and in July 2015 they announced that it would sell Slingo to the London-based gaming company Gaming Realms.The game has been gaining popularity ever since, including various iterations of the game. These are known as ‘Slingo Originals’ and were developed by Gaming Realms’ development and publishing branch of the same name.

Read on to find out how to play Slingo games!

How to play Slingo?

As mentioned above, Slingo is essentially a game that combines elements of your favourite slots and Bingo. The game is played on a 5x5 grid with the slot reels placed directly below. All Slingo games works according to the same simple mechanics:

  • It’s a mix of a popular slot game and bingo;

  • Each game lasts 10 spins;

  • Match numbers on the reel with the grid to complete slingos and move up the pay ladder;

  • Wilds or Jokers (this depends on the game) allow you to pick a number to match;

  • Extra spins are available after each game;

  • The price of each spin is dependent on the grid position and the potential prizes;

  • Prizes may be in excess of your base stake;

  • You can control the number of extra spins and maximum prizes offered in the play controls of the game.

Some of the Slingo Symbols (read more about these below) will give you the choice to select certain numbers as complete. Your choices will impact the RTP of Slingo Games. Obviously you’ll want to try to complete a win line, so always try to select the numbers that cover the most win lines!

Some more tips on how to play Slingo:

Centre Number –  You should always prioritise the number in the centre of the grid, because it covers four win lines: horizontal, vertical and two diagonals.

Diagonal Numbers – Next for you to prioritise are the numbers on the diagonal lines. These cover three win lines: horizontal, vertical and one diagonal.

Other numbers – Other numbers will only cover 2 win lines: horizontal and vertical so they should be your lowest priority.

Slingo Bonus Features

Now that you know how to play Slingo, essentially it is a mix of slots and Bingo. Great! Because it means that this hybrid game brings the bonus elements of slot games onto the Bingo grid. For example, if you manage to land 3 Jokers  you’ll be awarded a Joker Bonus, which is an instant cash prize - nice! Also, some of the themed Slingo games will include their very own unique Bonus rounds, just like slots. For example, Slingo Rainbow Riches (included in our Top 5 Slingo Games further below) offers seven (!) different Bonus rounds which could potentially be triggered progressively as you complete more lines, or Slingos.

Slingo Symbols

While playing Slingo Games, some other symbols might appear on the screen. Mostly they’ll be there to reward you with a little something, but there’s one cheeky Devil that will take your win away! These are the Slingo symbols you should keep an eye out for:

Jokers - Allows you to mark any number in the column where the Joker appeared as complete.

Super Jokers - Allows you to mark any number in the entire grid as complete.

Devil - Blocks the win on that specific spin.

Free Spin Symbol - Adds an extra spin to your gameplay.

Coin Awards - Awards an instant cash prize.

Tips for playing Slingo

Before anything, please always get a good understanding of the game before you start playing. This might sound silly or obvious, but it’s not. If you really want to enjoy this (or any other) online casino game, you’ll have to be clear on how it works and how you can win/lose. So in case of doubt, always have another look at the game guide - as many times as necessary.
